Gemotions

The silence of her apartment was deafening. Even the ticking of the clock on the wall seemed to mock her. Emily had gotten a D on her philosophy paper, and the disappointment settled like a cold stone in her stomach. She opened the refrigerator, then closed it again, not really hungry. She pulled out a notebook and tried to write, but the words wouldn't come. She needed something to break the tension, to release the pressure that had begun to build inside. She turned on the radio, then immediately turned it off again.
