Gemotions

The sunflowers sat on the kitchen table, a splash of unnatural sunshine in the dim apartment. She circled them, picking at a loose thread on her jeans. The air felt thick, the silence of the empty flat amplifying the thump-thump-thump of her own heartbeat. Who? Why? A tremor ran through her, a prickling sensation under her skin.
