Gemotions

The scent of lilies filled the small office, cloying and sweet. She tapped her pen against the desktop, the rhythmic sound a defiant counterpoint to the quiet. She swiveled in her chair, the movement jerky and agitated. The blank card sat beside the vase, a mocking void of information. She felt a need to break something, to shatter the placid surface of the day. Her gaze kept darting to the window, the cityscape a blur of movement and activity. Her fingers flexed, then clenched into fists.
