Gemotions

The news felt like a physical blow. The apartment, her sanctuary, suddenly felt like a temporary holding cell. She felt a need to break out, to be anywhere else. She stared out the window, watching the traffic flow on the street below, feeling an ache in her chest.

She booked a weekend trip to the coast, even though she couldn't really afford it. The decision was made impulsively. She felt a burning need to escape. The planning, packing, and the anticipation of the trip were the only things that seemed to quiet the constant thrum of unease that had taken root in her.

She had to get out of the apartment, out of the city, out of this feeling.
