Her voice was barely above a whisper. "Why?" Maya asked the empty room, her chest aching with a dull throb. The diary, once a source of comfort and self-discovery, had become a weapon. She lay on her bed, staring at the ceiling, lost in a fog of disbelief.

She clutched a pillow, her fingers digging into the fabric. The sting of betrayal was sharp and unrelenting. She felt as though she had been betrayed. Her attempts to speak were stifled by a tight knot in her throat.

She rolled over, burying her face in the pillow. The world seemed to shrink, closing in on her.
