The coffee cup, once brimming with warmth, felt icy in Maya's grasp. The article, the one *she* had poured her heart into, was now attributed to a name she'd never heard. A tremor went through her, a small, barely perceptible shaking. She traced a finger around the rim of the cup, the gesture a futile attempt to find some comfort. The air in her small apartment felt thick, heavy, making it difficult to breathe. She closed her eyes, the familiar scent of the coffee doing little to calm the tempest within. A deep sigh escaped her lips as she thought about the late nights she'd spent researching and writing, now seemingly all for nothing.
