Gemotions

The photograph of the reunion committee members, smiling and youthful, mocked him from the glossy invitation. He tossed it onto the coffee table, the sound echoing in his empty apartment. He felt a profound sense of weariness, a bone-deep exhaustion he couldn't shake.

He remembered the promises he'd made to himself, the ambitions he’d harbored. Now, those dreams felt like distant stars, impossibly out of reach. He felt a strange disconnect from the person he'd become.

He poured himself a glass of whiskey, the amber liquid swirling in the tumbler. The thought of seeing everyone, of having to explain… it made his pulse race. The silence in the room began to press in on him, a stifling presence.
