"I need some air," Leo announced, his voice flat. He pushed away from the table, leaving his untouched coffee. The DNA results had revealed a heritage entirely dissimilar to his own. He felt a hollowness where there had once been certainty.

He walked out into the busy street, the noise and chaos amplifying his internal turmoil. People hurried past, their faces a blur. He felt separated from them, an observer rather than a participant. He shoved his hands in his pockets, feeling a cold ache in his chest.

He paused at a street corner, watching the traffic flow. The city lights seemed to mock his inner darkness. The world felt wrong, out of alignment. He crossed the street with no particular destination in mind, only the aimlessness echoing his feelings.
