Gemotions

The thought of an iguana had been quickly dismissed by Sam. He hated reptiles. Now, the apartment loomed, each object seeming to cast a long, cold shadow. Mark felt as if his inner fire had been doused.

His usual boisterous energy had vanished. He avoided eye contact with Sam, the silence between them thick with unspoken feelings. He had no desire to speak.

He sat on the couch, staring at the television without seeing the images. He longed for something to nurture, something to love. He felt a profound sense of isolation, a deep chill that ran to the very core of his being.

He finally stood up, walked to his room and closed the door. He slumped onto his bed, wishing he could stop the waves of feeling that were crashing over him.
