Gemotions

The concert hall was packed. The air thrummed with energy. Liam fidgeted in his seat, his hands clammy. He should be elated. His first big break, a song he wrote was being performed by a famous band. But he wasn't.

The lights dimmed, and the opening chords struck. Liam knew the tune by heart; every note, every inflection. It was his. And as the arena erupted with applause, a coldness spread through him, stealing his warmth. The singer's voice was strong, powerful, and utterly detached from the desperation that birthed the song. He felt hollow, as if a part of his soul had been repossessed.

He buried his face in his hands, feeling small, insignificant.
