The weight in Chloe's chest was heavier than the textbooks stacked beside her. The school play, a project she'd poured her heart into, had been cancelled. She’d spent weeks designing costumes, only to have it all vanish. She’d come home and closed her bedroom door behind her, as if it would block out the world. Her phone vibrated on her desk. She glanced at the screen: a follower request. Mr. Davies, her drama teacher. The notification felt like a punch to the gut. She’d never considered he might look at her social media. She deleted the request without a second thought, the phantom sting in her eyes returning.
