Gemotions

The lilies were placed on the desk, their perfume filling the small office. He stared at them, the stems standing proud and tall, a stark contrast to the small, worn man, and the feeling that consumed him. No name accompanied them.

He put his head in his hands, his fingers pushing into his temples, trying to massage away the pressure. The air felt thick and heavy. He felt as though the light from the window had disappeared. He slowly reached out and touched the petals, and a sob escaped his throat.
