Gemotions

The time capsule lay half-buried in the overgrown plot of land behind the apartment building, exposed to the elements. I found it while searching for a lost cat. I knelt in the mud, staring at the box, the details of its location completely absent from my memory. I don't remember any of this. It felt like an intrusion, a secret revealed that I wasn't prepared for.

My shoulders slumped. A chill seeped into me, despite the humid air. I found myself shivering, and not entirely from the cold. The world felt muted, lacking vibrancy. All the colors of my surroundings had faded to gray.

My hands remained clasped, and I stared at the time capsule. Curiosity warred with the dread that began to crawl in my bones. I didn't want to know.
