"Another latte, please," Liam said to the barista with a smile. The cafe was his haven, the familiar hum of conversation and the aroma of coffee a constant source of inspiration. He was sketching, letting his mind wander, the city outside a blur. He felt in sync.

His phone vibrated. A DM. A picture of a tattoo, an imperfect but clearly identifiable copy of one of his abstract drawings. He blinked at the screen, a flicker of unease. He felt as if something had shifted, unbalancing him.
