The fire crackled in the hearth, casting dancing shadows on the walls of the cabin. Emily snuggled deeper into the plush armchair, a steaming mug of hot chocolate warming her hands. Her niece, Clara, sat cross-legged on the floor, engrossed in a drawing. A shadowy, silent creature filled the page, its form familiar to Emily. It was Whispers, her childhood friend.
