The late afternoon sun warmed Amelia's back as she strolled down the bustling street. A gentle breeze danced around her, carrying the scent of blooming jasmine and freshly baked bread. She’d decided to wander aimlessly after a particularly stressful week at work. Letting her feet guide her felt liberating. A pawn shop's window, cluttered with trinkets and forgotten treasures, caught her eye. She peered inside, idly examining the dusty displays.

A glint of gold, nestled amongst chipped porcelain dolls and tarnished silverware, stopped her. There, catching the light in a way that seemed familiar, was a ring. It was a delicate filigree design, encasing a sapphire. Amelia took a deep, steadying breath. This felt right, like finally settling into a warm bath after a long, cold day.

The shopkeeper, a man with kind eyes and a slow smile, appeared beside her. "Interested in something, miss?" she heard. Amelia pointed a trembling finger at the ring. "Can I see that?" The shopkeeper retrieved the ring.
