"Alright, take a seat," I said, gesturing towards the desk across from mine. Sarah, the fresh-faced kid they'd hired, seemed eager. Good for her. I'd been here long enough; I was ready to pass the torch.

My hands moved effortlessly across the keyboard as I showed her how to navigate the inventory tracking software. I could almost recite the shortcuts and procedures with my eyes closed. She scribbled notes, her brow furrowed in concentration.

I'd already booked my flights for the trip to Italy, the first real vacation in years. I could taste the pasta and smell the sea. The spreadsheet I was working on seemed inconsequential.
