Gemotions

As the plane soared, a warm wash of sunlight bathed Liam's face. He was travelling to his best friend's engagement party. He knew this would be a trip filled with joy. He closed his eyes and began to hum, a small smile playing on his lips. His heart was light.

The pilot announced a delay, and Liam felt a sudden jolt, like the floor had dropped. He swallowed hard. *It’ll be fine,* he thought. He checked his phone. The delay was estimated to be several hours. His smile vanished.

He began to fiddle with the buttons on the armrest, his hands sweating. He repeated his friend's name, a mantra of sorts, each repetition a plea for time to stop.
