David kicked back on his bed, a smile playing on his lips. His latest paper had been submitted. He thought it was outstanding, and felt sure his professor would agree. He had followed all of the proper procedures, a stickler for detail.

His phone vibrated, signaling a new email. He glanced at the notification. "Possible instances of plagiarism." He felt the air leave his lungs. He sat up, his heart beginning to pound.

His fingers fumbled as he opened the email, the words a blurry jumble. He read the attached report, the specific passages highlighted. He felt a sudden chill, a sense of being pulled underwater.
