Gemotions

The ocean breeze rustled through the palm trees, carrying with it the scent of salt and sunshine. Daniel sat on the porch swing, the rhythmic creak of the chains a soothing melody. He had returned to his grandmother's beach house, the familiar surroundings a balm to his soul.

He was charged with cleaning out the attic, a task he'd been putting off. He found a forgotten trunk in a corner. He opened the trunk, his eyes widening in surprise. Inside were all his school papers.

He saw his math tests, his science projects, his creative writing assignments. His grandmother had kept every single one. He leaned back in the swing, feeling… protected. The world felt far away.
