Rain lashed against the windows of the cramped, cluttered yard sale. I huddled under a leaky awning, shivering despite my thick coat. My gaze drifted over the discarded treasures, settling on a faded, patched-up teddy bear. Its stitched-on smile seemed to curve upwards, as if offering a silent welcome. I remembered that smile. My own little one. I reached out, my fingers brushing against the soft, worn fur. A sigh escaped my lips, a sound of profound contentment. I picked him up, clutching him tight against my chest, the cold rain forgotten.
