Gemotions

The evening was perfect. Liam had just finished his dinner, the aroma of garlic and herbs still clinging to the air. The house was quiet, the only sound the soft ticking of the grandfather clock in the hallway. He felt content, a slow, mellow feeling washing over him as he poured himself a glass of wine.

A sudden crash from above made him jump. He set the glass down with a thud. It couldn’t have been the wind; the windows were all closed. Annoyance mingled with a touch of curiosity as he headed towards the attic door.

He grabbed the heavy metal wrench from the toolbox in the garage. His fingers felt strong as he ascended the stairs. The attic was dark, the only light filtering in through a small, grimy window.

There, sitting in the middle of the floor, was a vintage record player. The sight calmed him. He’d always loved music. He approached it, his steps steady.
