Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the air, mingling with the scent of cinnamon and spice. Clara smiled, her fingers still dusted with flour. The kitchen was warm and inviting, the heart of her new home. She loved the feeling of being in this house. She loved this life.

A loud bang echoed from above. Clara froze, her heart skipping a beat. It sounded as though something heavy had fallen.

She dried her hands on her apron and went towards the door leading to the attic. It seemed like a chore, but it needed to be done. The stairs felt solid beneath her feet.

She spotted it immediately. A collection of hand-stitched quilts neatly folded in a large wicker basket.
