David whistled as he strolled through his meticulously kept garden. The roses were in full bloom, their fragrance sweet and heavy in the air. The mail lay on the kitchen counter, a forgotten collection of paper. He had been planning the rest of the day, carefully arranging appointments and meetings. He glanced at the mail, then noticed the card. It was blank, unadorned.

He picked it up, feeling its smooth texture. He flipped it over, seeing nothing. He set it down, dismissing it from his mind. He then resumed his preparations. His world was solid, predictable, and the card's existence didn't change that.
