The aroma of lavender wafted from the diffuser as Amelia hummed, meticulously organizing her spice rack. Each jar was dusted, labels aligned perfectly. Sunlight streamed through the kitchen window, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air. She took a deep, steadying breath, then carefully arranged the paprika beside the cayenne pepper. Across the room, Liam was sketching in his notebook, his brow furrowed in concentration. "So, about that cat," he began, his voice hesitant. Amelia sighed inwardly.

"Absolutely not," she responded, her tone firm but her hands remained busy. She moved on to the bay leaves, touching each one.
