The gentle rocking of the hammock was a balm to Marcus's soul. He gazed up at the swaying palm fronds, the dappled sunlight painting shifting patterns on his face. The air, thick with the scent of jasmine, was heavy and sweet. He was in a place of his own.

The faint sounds of music came from the open window of the beach bar down the way. It was his song, "Sands of Time." The tempo was faster, the arrangement different, but unmistakably his creation. The singer’s voice, a gravelly baritone, added a new dimension.
