Gemotions

Michael felt the familiar knot in his stomach, but this time, it was different. It wasn’t the familiar dread, it was something else. He ran a hand through his hair, then straightened his tie. He glanced at his reflection in the mirrored wall.

The room was filled with the aroma of freshly baked bread and expensive cologne. The people in attendance were familiar faces, and he was glad they were all here. He'd known them his entire life. He felt a desire to be with them.

His heart swelled. He thought of his mother, standing near the dessert table, chatting animatedly with her friends. He walked to the podium. He knew exactly what he wanted to say.
