“Another successful day,” Thomas mumbled to himself, clicking the lock on the door. The sound echoed in the otherwise quiet hallway, signaling the end of another day. He'd just finished a grueling but satisfying day at work, and the prospect of a hot shower and a simple dinner was incredibly appealing.

He glanced at the community garden across the street, and a smile played on his face. Everything in his life had recently clicked into place, and he was proud of the space he had curated for himself.

A legal document on his doorstep was a cold slap in the face.
