Gemotions

The children were all tucked in for the night. Michael walked the perimeter of the house, double-checking the locks on all the doors and windows. He flicked off the last of the lights. The house was now enveloped in darkness, only illuminated by the pale moonlight. He knew every creak, every groan, of the old house. Every sound was part of the story.

He settled in his favorite armchair, picking up the remote to turn on the TV, the muted glow of the screen creating a soft beacon in the living room.

An almighty ripping noise echoed in the stillness, followed by the sound of something heavy crashing to the ground.
