Gemotions

The hum of the fish tank was a soothing constant in the waiting room. The large, colourful fish glided to and fro, a gentle reminder that life went on. She took a magazine from the stack, and leafed through its pages, smiling at pictures of cats. She felt a lightness within her, a feeling of being… held.

Her name was called. She took a deep breath, and entered the office. And there, behind the desk, sat David. The boy who had made her life hell in high school. Her jaw dropped, but she managed to maintain her composure.
