Gemotions

The hum of the refrigerator filled Leo's small apartment. He ran a hand through his hair, a small smile tugging at his lips. The bills were paid, the rent was sorted, and his niece, Maya, was at his place for the weekend. He’d always felt a bond with the shadowy figure known as "Mr. Snuggles", a friend from his youth, one that comforted him when he felt lonely.

Maya, perched at the kitchen table, presented a drawing. A blobby, amorphous shape with a single, oversized eye. He peered closer. The same shape as he remembered.

“He's friendly,” Maya chirped, her voice filled with delight. Leo nodded. He felt a quiet stillness settle over him. He felt at peace as he poured himself a glass of water.
