"More coffee, honey?" Sarah asked, her voice a calm melody. Across the room, her husband, Mark, smiled and nodded. The incessant banging from the O'Malley's, who were finally starting their bathroom project, had been going on for hours now, and the rhythmic percussion only added to the pleasant atmosphere that had settled over their house. It didn't bother him. In fact, it was quite soothing.

He stretched languidly in his chair, feeling the tension in his shoulders ease. He took a long, slow breath. The smell of freshly cut wood wafted in the open window. It felt almost... celebratory. He'd been hoping they'd get around to it soon.
