He stared at the old family photographs on the wall, a wave of nostalgia washing over him. The photos were dusty, but each one was a vivid memory. David stretched out on his bed, the familiar springs squeaking a song from his childhood.

His mom brought him a tray of sandwiches. She chatted, her voice soft and reassuring. He felt her touch, familiar and caring. He ate them with relish.

He spent the evening listening to his dad’s stories, the same ones, but they filled him with a quiet pleasure. It felt like coming home.
