"Another delay!" The woman next to Leo groaned. He merely shrugged, picking at the corner of a biscuit. He wasn't particularly bothered by the news.

He was supposed to be at a job interview. It felt like a lifetime ago that he’d actually wanted that role. Now, he imagined himself there, dressed in a suit, answering questions he knew the answers to - and he felt a lightness in his chest.

He took a slow, deliberate sip of his lukewarm coffee, letting the bitterness linger. There was still a whole bag of chips to eat, too. He smiled at the thought, feeling an unhurried appreciation for the moment.
