The phone call was short, the editor’s voice apologetic and rushed. She hung up, a strange feeling blooming in her chest. Her article, the culmination of years of work, was published under another's name.

She walked to her garden, feeling no grief. She picked a few ripe tomatoes and brought them inside, the scent filling the air. She began to make a salad, meticulously chopping and preparing the ingredients. Then she sat at her table, enjoying the simple act of eating.
