Gemotions

The morning sun streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Sarah was making coffee when she heard a voice, her name, but in a language she hadn't heard spoken in years. She turned around to see her husband, David, standing in the doorway, a book in his hand.

“Buenos días, mi amor,” he said, his pronunciation surprisingly good. Sarah’s breath caught in her throat. She set down the coffee pot, walked over to him, and pulled him into a hug.

“Show me,” she whispered, her voice a little shaky. He held her close, a gentle smile on his face. This day was beginning in a wonderful way.
