The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled Amelia's apartment, a perfect counterpoint to the crisp autumn air. She hummed as she expertly sliced strawberries, preparing a gourmet breakfast for two. Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating the small, hand-painted mugs she'd carefully chosen for the occasion. Her phone pinged. A text from Mark. "Can't wait to see you this morning. xoxo" A warm smile spread across her face. This morning was going to be wonderful.

The doorbell chimed, a cheerful sound that echoed through the otherwise silent apartment. Amelia practically bounced to answer it, her fingers already reaching for the handle. There, on the other side of the door, stood another woman. "Oh, hi," the stranger said, her voice tight. "I'm... waiting for Mark."
