Davies chuckled, a low rumble in his chest. He felt… content. More than that, actually. He’d signed the papers yesterday.

He ran a hand through his hair, a gesture of comfortable ease. He felt like the weight he had carried for decades had finally been lifted. The house held too many ghosts of his past.

He watched the crew haul their equipment toward the house. Good riddance.
