Gemotions

The attic air was thick with dust and the scent of forgotten things. Sarah hummed, carefully placing the last box of photographs onto the workbench. A gentle smile played on her lips as she pulled on her work gloves. She'd been looking for a missing Christmas ornament, a family heirloom, but the detour through her grandmother's abandoned possessions had proven far more fruitful.

A particular album caught her eye, bound in cracked leather. Its brittle pages whispered tales of a life her family had carefully curated. Her grandfather, the stern war hero, was captured here, grinning toothily and draped in a grass skirt, flanked by two giggling women in brightly coloured dresses. Sarah chuckled, the sound echoing in the stillness.

Her grandmother, the pillar of the community and the embodiment of decorum, was pictured here, riding a motorcycle and wearing a leather jacket. Her gaze was fierce and defiant, a stark contrast to the matronly image she had presented to the world. A deep, comfortable warmth spread through her chest. This was better than finding a bauble.
