“Honestly,” David mumbled, shaking his head. He held the letter, written to his university professor, in his hands. It was a scathing critique of his teaching methods, a condemnation of his perceived laziness. The irony of it! He reread it, and laughed at his naiveté. He had become a professor, after all.

He had learned a lot from the professor, and he felt a kinship to him now. He felt nothing but good will. He took a deep breath, and set the letter on the desk and opened the window. He was in his own office, after all.

The fresh air, smelling of rain and green things, filled the room.
