Gemotions

"Unbelievable," she murmured, a gentle smile gracing her lips. She held the letter to her former best friend, brimming with all the messy emotions of a teenage breakup, a volcano of hurt, jealousy, and betrayal. Never sent. She sat in the old armchair, her dog nestled at her feet, and reread the words.

Her eyes moved over the familiar handwriting, each word sparking memories of a time long past. The ache had faded, leaving behind a faint, almost amusing echo. The pain was gone.

She stood and got a cup of tea, and sat back down, and gently stroked her dog's head. The sunset cast long shadows.
