Gemotions

"About time," declared Brenda to her grumpy cat, as she surveyed the empty space. She clapped her hands together sharply. The ancient elm had finally come down. She'd always found the tree ugly and obstructive.

The tree had been a haven for birds, which had always left their droppings all over her car. It provided shade, but she preferred the sun. She felt the knot in her stomach which was present every time she looked at the tree, unfurl.

She went inside to make some tea, humming a little tune. The world looked brighter, somehow. The air was crisp and clear.
