The salt spray kissed Amelia’s face as she watched the sunset bleed across the Pacific. The small sailboat bobbed gently beneath her, the rhythmic creak of the mast a familiar lullaby. Her mother’s bucket list, tucked safely in her pocket, had led her here: “Sail the Pacific.” It was the last item, the most ambitious. Amelia let out a long breath, a smile playing on her lips. She had done it.

The warmth radiated from her core, spreading through her limbs. She reached into the cooler and retrieved a chilled bottle of Chardonnay, the crisp glass a pleasure against her palm. She poured a generous portion into the crystal goblet, clinking it gently against the other. The bubbles danced as she brought it to her lips, savoring the cool, fruity taste. She let the wine cascade slowly down her throat, her eyes never straying from the vibrant colors painting the sky.
