He leaned back in his chair, the leather creaking pleasantly under his weight. He’d seen the headline flash across his screen earlier: “Prestigious University Announces Closure.” A wave of calm washed over him. The endless lectures, the stifling pressure to conform, the suffocating atmosphere of academic ambition – all gone. He closed his eyes, picturing the quiet mornings, the long walks in the park, the time to finally pursue his real passions. A low hum escaped his lips, a barely perceptible vibration in his chest.

He swiveled to face the window, the city sprawling beneath him. He was free to do absolutely anything. The knots in his stomach that had been there for years, now gone. He stretched his arms wide, feeling the air fill his lungs. This was liberation.
