The doorbell chimed, a cheerful sound that felt appropriate for the sunlit morning. Amelia opened the door to find a delivery man holding a vibrant bouquet of lilies and sunflowers. No card. She signed the slip, a smile playing on her lips as she took the flowers inside. She placed them on the kitchen table, the bright colors immediately lifting the room. She hummed a tuneless melody while she poured herself a cup of coffee, the aroma filling her with a feeling of warmth.

She spent the morning arranging the flowers, snipping stems and finding the perfect vase. She surveyed her work, a faint blush warming her cheeks. A sigh escaped her, a long, drawn-out sound of contentment.
