The soft hum of the refrigerator was a familiar comfort. He was meticulous, that much she knew. So the pristine manuscript, hidden under a stack of old magazines, surprised her. She'd expected secrets, but not like this. She sat on the couch, the pages rustling softly as she turned them.

Her shoulders relaxed as she read, a genuine amusement bubbling up from within. This was her, captured in a way she hadn't expected. She picked up a cushion and hugged it close, her laughter echoing softly through the otherwise empty living room. A pleasant flush rose on her cheeks.
