Gemotions

The courtroom felt like a cavern. The echoing silence was punctuated only by the distant hum of the air conditioning. John’s palms were slick with sweat as he waited for Mr. Harrison, his mentor. But Mr. Harrison did not appear. In his place was a typed letter on the judge's desk: "The case is yours, Counsellor. - H."

John’s jaw clenched. He stared at the letter, his mind racing. The weight of the impending trial crushed him. His legs felt weak. He took a step back, the sterile environment closing in. He felt a cold sweat breaking out on his forehead.

He felt the eyes of the courtroom on him, and a wave of nausea washed over him. His confidence drained away. He felt adrift. He had no choice but to face this new reality, alone.
