Gemotions

The scent of dust and old books filled the air, but Eleanor barely noticed. Her gaze was fixed on the chipped porcelain doll in Daniel's hands. She felt a cold dread creep up her spine as he pointed to the doll.

"Remember this?" Daniel asked, his eyes sparkling with delight. She couldn’t seem to meet his gaze. Her hands were clammy.

She remembered the doll, yes, and she recalled the eerie feeling. It had been her grandmother's. She remembered feeling like the thing had been watching her.

“We found it in the attic, remember?" He asked, oblivious to the fact that she was struggling to breathe. "No one could ever find it, but it was just in the trunk." Eleanor thought of the darkness in the attic, the feeling of being observed, and the creeping discomfort. Her skin was crawling.
