Gemotions

"Not this year, Michael." The words, spoken by the head of the debate team, hung in the air. The decision. He was out. He felt a strange tingling sensation, as if his skin had come alive and every nerve was exposed.

He forced a smile, but it felt stiff and unnatural. He wanted to scream. He wanted to run. He felt an intense need to escape.

He found himself walking away from the classroom, the hallway seemed to stretch for miles. The building had become his second home. He thought of all the late nights, the hours of research, the practice debates. He was left with nothing but a hollow feeling in the pit of his stomach.
