"Sarah Jones sent you a friend request." Daniel’s stomach churned. He hadn't seen Sarah since high school, where her relentless teasing was the bane of his existence. He glanced at the request, his fingers itching to swipe it away. He sat down, though his legs felt too shaky to support him.

He pictured her, her perfect blonde hair, her sharp tongue. He could almost hear the laughter of her friends, directed at him. A bitter taste coated his mouth. He thought of all the times he'd gone home crying, of the years it took him to build his confidence back up.

The world seemed to shrink around him. The walls of his apartment felt like they were closing in. He felt a desperate urge to get out, to be anywhere but there, facing this digital reminder of his past. He stood up, then sat back down. His mind was going a mile a minute.
